- 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups milk preferably warm
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional
- Powdered sugar for serving, optional
Prepare the Batter:
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
Make a well in the center and add the remaining milk, melted butter, and yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
Beat in the eggs one at a time until smooth. Add vanilla extract if using.
Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
Cook the Waffles:
Preheat waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Lightly grease the waffle iron.
Pour batter onto hot waffle iron and cook for 3-5 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
