Ingredients
  

For the Filling:

  • 2 cups fresh gooseberries
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1 tablespoon butter

For the Pie Crust:

  • 2 cups flour for the crust
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 0.75 cup sour cream
  • 0.5 cup sugar for the crust
  • 2 cups flour for the lattice
  • Powdered sugar for sprinkling
  • 1 egg white for brushing the crust

Instructions
 

Prepare the Filling:

  • In a saucepan, cook 2 cups of fresh gooseberries with a bit of water until soft.
  • Gradually mix in 2 cups of sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour. Stir until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and stir in 1 tablespoon of butter.

Make the Pie Crust:

  • Combine 2 cups of flour with 0.5 teaspoon of baking powder and 0.5 cup sugar in a bowl.
  • Add 2 eggs and 0.75 cup sour cream. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Roll out half of the dough and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish.
  • Fill with the gooseberry mixture.

Prepare the Lattice Crust:

  • Roll out the remaining dough and cut into strips.
  • Arrange the strips in a lattice pattern over the filling. Brush with egg whites and sprinkle with additional sugar.

Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake for 35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  • Let the pie cool on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before serving.
